This fun, creative and experimental project was a hypothetical brief i set myself for my final term of my publishing masters. the aim was to recreate the imagery of aesop's book of fables with the staff, patients and members of the children's hospice - shooting star.
A very meaningful and inclusive project, involving the children, their families and the staff working with this wonderful charity. I wanted the book to display the happiness and joy that creativity brings and as a result, it brought the whole Shooting Star community together. The imagery across each spread is a collage of different pieces of work submitted from all ages and abilities . You'll notice the range in texture, media and detail. The high contrast making the visuals and colours stand out.
I witnessed how the activity brought families together, children engaging with each other and staff being able to bond with each other and the families of the patients. The community and space they occupy is truly inspirational and I wanted this project to show the potential for fund raising concepts and raise awareness of their work and ethos to the wider public.
I originally designed a landscape style paperback, but as the project developed, I thought to visualise the concept as a board book. I feel both capture the energy from the work submitted and target different markets.
